“It’s not about having lots of money, It’s about having the knowledge & motivation to manage what you have.”

WHO WE ARE

Lena

I have been working globally within the financial technology services industry for over 15 years and spent most of that time on projects within investment management firms and banking consultancies.

In that time I developed a passion for learning how money functions through the banks and financial institutions and how individuals as well as these institutions use the multitude of instruments for financial gain and preservation.

In a male dominated industry and working with mostly male colleagues, I noticed that their social conversations frequently involved discussions around money and finances, they gave each other advice, tips and where generally open when discussing their investments and money moves.

I realised very quickly that my financial proficiency was inadequate and what I assumed was only accessible to wealthy people was indeed accessible to everyone by simply having the know how.

I also questioned why my girlfriends and I rarely discussed money and finances, we have the same careers as men do, similar expenses and responsibilities, but introducing the money topic at brunch or afternoon tea seemed taboo and boring.

FOUNDING FEMVESTORS

Femvestors was an idea conceived when I moved to Paris. With a diverse group of friends both expat and local, we bonded together in our adventures getting integrated into French culture. At brunches, we would discuss everything to do with dating, relationships, family, careers and of course, the everyday challenges of life in a new country.

The only subject missed was Money and Finances, so my mission quickly became that of removing this stigma and making money discussions with my circle of friends a regular and positive inclusion to our brunch and dinner repertoire.

A serial expat I have lived and worked in 9 different countries across Europe, Asia and the US. I currently split my time between Paris, Bangkok and my hometown of London.

TESS

I have over 15 years of professional experience in the money management field, helping others make the best financial decisions for their business.

My passion for personal finance began with an interest of knowing how money works, how to account for it and most importantly how to avoid it to cause you stress.

I had always taken the conservative approach when it came to money by managing debt and saving after witnessing how mismanaging your money will not only hurt you in the short run but also in the long run.

Money tends to grow when it gets invested and when it gets saved it loses purchasing power. Today, I have a balance between the aggressive and conservative approach I focus on not only saving, but also now taking calculated risk by investing my money for a greater return.

On average many women shy away when it comes to investing, due to fear and lack of knowledge. My plan is to take out the fear and educate woman on becoming financially literate and making the best decisions to reach their personal finance goals when it comes to budgeting, saving, investing, and planning for financial stability.

I believe that “Personal finance remains personal; therefore, I strongly believe it is important to educate yourself and develop a financial plan that is tailored to your financial goals according to your values”

I speak three languages fluently, I’ll let you guess which ones they are.I relocated for work from the US to Europe 7 years ago and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.

“let’s promote the significance of women learning how to become financially Proficient and financially fluent.”

why we exist

We exist to create a space where access to information on money and finances is simplified and targeted to our specific needs. Where we don’t feel confused and overwhelmed by the myriad of information on a specific subject.

We want to take away the fear, seclusion and embarrassment that women sometimes feel in these discussions, aiming to socialize the idea that it’s OK for us to talk about money in order to learn and develop personally.

We advocate and drive women to developing the skills to be their own financial strategists.

OUR STRATEGY

We work with women to help them better understand their finances and how to make what they have work for them.

Using our BLIS strategy, we will provide the tools and resources to guide women with making better money decisions and empowering them to take charge of their financial futures.

We compile and breakdown the Financial Jargon’ that can cause learning barriers, putting it in a simplistic format and manner where it makes sense for you to make the right decisions for reaching your financial goals.

“So what are you waiting for?

Become a Femvestor and take control of your finances so that you can live your best life on your own terms.”

-@lafilletropgourmande

“With zero financial know-how, the investment world always seemed like an overwhelming feat that was beyond my reach, which explains why it took me 37 years to finally dive in, but better late than never.

Femvestors has helped me to break common misconceptions around investing and has shown me how accessible it is to normal people like me who aren't experts in the industry and who earn a modest income. It has given me insight about different types of assets I can invest in, how to choose the best investment strategy and platform best suited to my needs, and it has taught me to get into the habit of putting money every month into my portfolio, even if it's a small amount. Seeing the growth in my investments in just under a year has been rewarding and acts as concrete proof that investing is possible and necessary for everyone.

Investing is especially important for women because it helps achieve a sense of financial equality by counteracting issues like the gender pay gap and pink tax. It also counteracts the effects of inflation, as the money we've earned and kept in a savings account depreciates in value year-by-year if we don't reinvest it. It also allows us to be financially independent and gives us the power to leave situations that no longer serve us.

Femvestors is a platform that is led by women and supports women, as it understands the unique challenges that women face in the industry. By equipping and empowering women with the right tools and resources, it will help us gain financial equality and independence in the long-run.”

“With Femvestors, I learnt the importance of investing on a monthly basis. Prior to that, I used to save money but they made me realize with inflation I would be at a loss if I continued to only save.

I didn’t have any financial background but since I've started learning the fundamentals and a few important concepts through their teachings, I now take more interest in what's at stake.

It’s more of a state of mind than anything else. It’s part of my monthly routine; I now invest in ETFs and in US stocks on 2 financial platforms. I see it as a way to gain passive income in a simple way while still managing risk. My outlook on investing is for the long term. It really changed the vision and understanding that I had with money.
