1. Choose your Asset Class

A large number of ETFs track an index or assets such as:

  • Index (S&P500, SET, FTSE 100, CAC 40, SGX, DAX etc.)

  • Asset class (stocks, bonds, commodities)

2. Industry sector performance

Company size and performance within ETF

3. Look out for low expense ratio (management fee) as low as 0.04% and transaction fees

4. Think about Tax

An ETF’s tax status can also be an important consideration in some countries, such as the UK.

5. Currency

Consider the risk of taking on foreign exchange ETF, fluctuations can impact performance or worse.

6. Dividend Yield and frequency

Most importantly do your own research and go with what you are comfortable with.
